This morning the Methodists converged on our house
#4 and it was a a real White out. We got the whole exterior painted first
coat. We still have another coat of exterior paint to go and then 2 coats
inside as soon as the sheetrock is finished so if you have an ambitious group
they can still make their mark on our next house. We actually had 6
board members helping and a total of 13 people painted. Our next paint day
outside will be on June 2, a Saturday for exterior and I( hope we can get
startyed inside before then. Thanks Nancy James for organizing this fun
day. I hope to be finishing sheetrock some time Tuesday and the rest of
the week since the High School class is done as far as they can go and school is
out next Wednesday. Anyone that would like to get white can call and I'll
work with them.

Just want to remind everybody that this weekend we
all have the opportunity to do something special with that someone special and
at the same time help to finance house #5 for Union County Habitat for
Humanity.
What: Benefit
Dance at Creston Eagles Lodge .
When: 7 -
10 Saturday, February 11, 2012
Where: 300
E. Montgomery St. Creston, Ia.
How:
$5 per person at the door
The band "Coon Ridge Country" will be
featured. This is a Christian group that plays at the Iowa State Fair
every year. Folks will be swing (rock and roll) dancing as well as 2-step
and polk and waltz style dancing.
If you would like to brush up on your dancing
skills, Just ask Charlie or Bonnie. We have helped lots of folks with the
basics of 2-step, polkas, waltz and even cha-cha.
Since this is also a Valentine Dance it is
your chance to get out that red shirt, blouse, dress or... I always wear
black so it doesn't matter what you wear but if you want to dress up there will
be others dressed up while there will be many in jeans.
We are hoping the weather will cooperate and at
least not have snow or ice. If the sky is clear we hope to have over 100
folks in attendance and we will be a fun group. Most of the area dancers
do not drink alcohol, Bonnie and I included, but the bar will be open for
those who wish to do so. The kitchen is not serving a meal that night so
if you wish to go out to dinner it will have to be elsewhere.
Bring you friends and have a great, fun time with
us this Saturday evening.

“Do unto others” is only the beginning. - By volunteering for Habitat I can offer some of my gifts with which God has given to help someone who might otherwise never realize a big part of the American dream, home ownership. Something as simple as using a broom or paint brush can help make the dream real.
- The Christian fellowship that is present while volunteering is priceless, the friendships enduring, and the teamwork is fun.
- The homes we build will be there for generations which gives one a great feeling of accomplishment.
- The fact that we are helping build value in and for our community and pride of ownership in our families is immeasurable.
- Our progress is easy to see and gives me a great deal of pride.
- I learn about how to build and maintain homes as I work.
- Volunteering is the right thing for me to do.
